Did you know Texas APCO offers scholarships to active members in good standing? We are excited to announce, Maria Reyna with Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office will be able to attend the Joint Public Safety Conference this August using this valuable benefit! Congratulations, Maria, we are excited to meet you and happy to have you!
In February, President Kelle Simon and President Elect Jeremy Hill traveled to the Nation’s Capital to participate in the annual NENA event, 9-1-1 Goes to Washington. The event is “…a significant opportunity to shape the nation’s emergency communications policy agenda.” During the days on Capitol Hill, Kelle and Jeremy had the opportunity to meet key politicians and kept the topic of reclassification for Emergency Dispatchers in the forefront of discussions. While not everyone will have the chance to participate in 9-1-1 Goes to Washington, one thing agencies can do at the local level is contact Congressman Joaquin Castro, who is on the committee reviewing the bill. Invite your legislators into your centers to give them first hand knowledge of what it is we’re doing 24/7 as the First, First Responders!
Texas APCO is proud to host your emergency dispatch related job postings. Flyers must be .jpg format and include the web address of the application. Once received, you will be invoiced by the treasurer with a request for contact information including name, phone, number, and email. Postings are $100.00 and will remain on the site for 30 days.
How would you prepare your emergency communications center if you could see into the future?
With APCO’s newest training event, you can get the next best thing – an interactive walk-through of diverse scenarios handled as they will be in the future. Click here for more information and to be taken to the Nexus Website.
