As an outlet for members to help their colleagues, APCO International has established a benevolent fund known as the Sunshine Fund. The fund provides a measure of financial assistance for those public safety communications professionals who experience a life altering event of a nature that places a significant financial burden upon them or their immediate family. Based on the nature of the event and the availability of monies in the fund, these individuals may qualify for a financial grant to assist them in their time of distress. Any APCO member may nominate a colleague as a recipient for assistance. The nomination is made by completing the Sunshine Fund Request Form. The form must be completed, returned to the Chief Administrative Officer and screened by a review panel. A decision will be made and the nominator notified of the results. If the particular circumstances of the nominee fail to meet the criteria, the reasons will be communicated.
