Telecommunicator of the Year Award

Nomination Criteria.

 Deadline is February 28, 2009

 

The Telecommunicator of the Year program is to recognize a Telecommunicator for a year of exceptional dedication to duty and service to their Department, as well as their community.

AWARD

Any Telecommunicator or supervisor may submit any Telecommunicator for consideration of this award.  The nomination must be submitted to the Awards Committee Chairperson before the designated deadline.  The award will be based on an incident(s) above and beyond the call of duty of the normal Telecommunicator daily routine.  The nominee will demonstrate exceptional courage, foresight, alertness and/or skill in the performance of the highly creditable and unusual communication accomplishment.  The action(s) taken by the nominee must reflect the highest tradition of public safety telecommunications service.

This incident should demonstrate dedication to the Public Safety Communications field and a continuing interest in maintaining the highest standards including creating innovative ideas and involvement toward the implementation of these improved procedures.  Each letter of nomination should be detailed as to why the nominee would be considered.  In addition to the critical incident, the nominee should demonstrate any or all of the following:

§         Excellent overall performance for the year.

§         A positive attitude toward all aspects of their job.

§         Be a team player, in the willingness to do a variety of duties.

§         Demonstrate professional work habits on a daily basis.

§         Ability to earn the respect and high esteem of co-workers.

§         Involvement of civic activities.

 The Awards Committee will review all nominations and select the finalist.

PRESENTATION OF AWARD

The Awards Committee of the Texas Chapter of APCO Inc. will announce as well as present the Telecommunicator of the Year Award at the 2009 Spring Conference. This Telecommunicator will be presented with a year's membership to the Texas Chapter of APCO, an inscribed plaque, and expenses paid to the Spring Conference.
